Horn
Biography
Manuel Egger is an Austrian horn player and musician, born in 1990 in Linz. He completed his secondary education at the Adalbert Stifter High School of Music in Linz and subsequently graduated with distinction from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He received his concert diploma in 2017 and his master’s degree in chamber music in 2021.
As an orchestral musician, he has performed throughout Europe, Asia, and America with various ensembles and has worked under distinguished conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Gustavo Dudamel, and John Williams. From 2018 to 2023, he served as a horn player with the Graz Opera and the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 2023, he has been a member of the Vienna Volksoper.
In addition to his orchestral engagements, Egger is active as a chamber musician and arranger. He is a member of several ensembles, including Vienna Brass Connection, the Vienna Horn Ensemble, Ensemble SONOS Vienna, and the Vienna Horns. He appears regularly in leading concert venues such as the Musikverein Vienna, Carnegie Hall in New York, Tokyo’s Suntory Hall, and the KKL Lucerne. Furthermore, he is one of the organizers and the programming director of the Vienna Forest Festival.
