Biography

Nareh Arghamanyan is a Bösendorfer Artist based in Vienna. She has been praised by her “elegance, humour, fiery imagination“, “unique sensual narrative tone”, “precise stylistic approach“, „dazzling technique” and “charismatic stage presence” which made headlines and have moved critics and audiences alike: Musical America Magazine described her as “major, major, major talent…a potential superstar”. 

From Musikverein to Lincoln Center, Nareh has appeared in the world’s prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall, Philharmonie Berlin, Laieszhalle Hamburg, Herkules Saal Munich,Konzerthaus Vienna, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Ambassador Auditorium Los Angeles, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Gardner Museum Boston, Philadelphia Kimmel Center, Petronas Hall Kuala Lumpur, Osaka Concert Hall Japan among others. 

Nareh has worked with distinguished conductors including Kent Nagano, Sir Neville Marriner, Riccardo Chailly, Alain Altinoglu, Michael Sanderling, Kevin John Edusei, Ruth Reinhardt, Mei-Ann Chen, Xian Zhang, Howard Griffiths, Alfonso Scarano, Fabien Gabel, Kazuki Yamada and Christoph Poppen. She has performed with orchestras such as Wiener Symphoniker, Birmingham Symphony, Tonhalle Orchester Zürich, Radio-Symphony Orchestra Frankfurt, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester Hamburg, Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg and Monte-Carlo, Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal, RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Kyoto Symphony, Thailand Philharmonic, Helsingborg Symphony, Malaysian Philharmonic, , Bern Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, Vancouver, Edmonton, Kitchener-Waterloo, Utah, Columbus and Indianapolis Symphonic Orchestras and others. 

Nareh frequently performs in recitals throughout Asia, Europe, and North America. She is a regular guest in renown festivals including Lucerne Festival, Schwetzinger Festspiele, Domaine Forget, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Tanglewood, Marlboro, Singapore, Miami and Portland Festivals.Among other numerous awards, she has received the Franz Liszt, Georgy Cziffra, Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli prizes as well as Rising Star, Herbert-von Karajan, Thyll-Dürr, Mozart Gesellschaft and Orpheum awards. 

Following her successful debut solo album released in 2009 with the Canadian Analekta Label, Nareh in 2011 signed with Pentatone Records, releasing a CD of solo works by Rachmaninov to great critical acclaim. She was selected as “Artist of the Season” by Pentatone and partnered with the Rundfunk-Sinfonie Orchester Berlin and Alain Altinoglu to release recordings of all of Liszt’s piano-orchestral works as well as Prokofiev’s and Khachaturian’s Piano concerti to great acclaim. 

In 2018 she teamed up with the Munich Chamber Orchestra and Howard Griffiths to record the piano concerto by Franz Danzi – a premiere recording of the work, which was released by Sony Classical in 2018. Furthermore, she released 2 solo CDs in 2021-2022 including solo piano works by Brahms and Tchaikovsky and solo works by Vardapet Komitas.
