Biography
Shirley is a multilingual artist, fluent in five languages and proficient in playing ten musical instruments. She has been honored with numerous international awards across continents, including in Hong Kong, the USA, Europe, and the United Kingdom.
She pursued her academic journey at the University of San Diego, earning consecutive degrees: a B.B.A. in Finance and a B.A. in Music. Furthering her education, Shirley obtained an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business and Management and was recognized with the Distinguished Alumnus Award. She also completed the Executive Program at Stanford University Graduate School of Business and studied music production and film scoring at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
In 2023, Shirley achieved a significant milestone by becoming the only Asian winner of the World Championship (Orchestral Category) at the Film Music Contest, competing against composers from over 70 countries - a truly monumental accomplishment.
From 2022 to 2025, Shirley successfully delivered 44 concerts and performances for prestigious organizations, including the Hong Kong Palace Museum, Hong Kong Police Force Happy Teen Concert, Hong Kong Taoist Association, JP Morgan, TVB, MTR, AIA, ACCA, and Tencent. Her responsibilities encompassed curating music programs, composing original scores, providing training, and overseeing music and stage production.
Shirley's passion for music and her dedication to supporting disabled musicians and artists have garnered widespread acclaim. In 2025, she organized the largest inclusive concert to date, featuring over 80 performers from special needs schools from Hong Kong. The event was a resounding success, earning commendation from Hong Kong’s Chief Executive, Mr. John Lee, who publicly acknowledged Shirley’s efforts in music education for disabled musicians and her positive societal impact during his opening speech.
Shirley firmly believes that arts and music can transcend boundaries, fostering social change by providing a platform for disabled and underprivileged musicians and artists to shine. Through her work, she aims to contribute to a more inclusive and compassionate society. Therefore, she founded Hong Kong Arts Without Boundaries Foundation Limited 香港共融藝術音樂協會有限公司 (NGO) in March 2024.
Her composition “Horizon in Motion” was premiered as the final piece of each concert of Lina Summer Camp of Music 2025.
